ABOUT ME
Welcome!
I’m Heather, let me tell you a bit about my musical self!
My early musical education was straddled between classical piano lessons and the oral tradition of popular music. Growing up with parents who were gigging musicians ignited my passion to learn and perform popular music. I found myself immersed in community music too, as my father ran the local pipe band!
I would describe my taste in music as far too wide for my own safety!
Thankfully, my 30+ years experience of performing in bands provided a great outlet for discovering, experimenting and having the freedom of choice to saunter along my own musical path!
Heather McCann (MA)

My musical upbringing and more recent study experiences, are reflected in the eclecticism of my teaching practice.
Like some ancient philosophers who were not committed to any single school of thought, my methods, ideas and styles, are derived from sources which are both broad and diverse.
In adopting a critical pedagogical approach, I am able to use different teaching strategies to accomplish the goal - which is to empower children to be musicians.
